Time is winding down!

A lot has happened over the past few days, from shutters, countertops, tile, carpet and hardwood! Our guys have been hard at work, ensuring everything will go as planned on the 27th. I may owe all of them lunch when its all said and done!

A few shutters are up!

The yard is a mess, but they are working on the water and sprinkler lines.

Hardwood in foyer, covered up

I wanted carpet in the living room

The chandelier is a little low for me, Steve will adjust this when we move in.

Mudroom area

Powder room

My dusty countertops! I still love them though!

My dirty hardwood

A whole lotta carpet in the family room

Owner's bedroom

We did something many may find odd, but we got the same tile in both the owner's bath and secondary bath. The secondary bath will be painted a different color and have different hardware on the cabinets.

I actually like the sink and tub faucets. For some reason I didn't think I would and was already looking for replacements.

They mistakenly measured the wrong area for the showerhead. This will be fixed.

Laundry room. I was nervous about whether the washer and dryer I wanted would fit, but Steve took the measurements of the room and they fit with just a couple of inches remaining. We may have to remove the washer tray though depending on the depth of the washer.

Heading down to the basement

A whole lotta space for Steve's man-cave

We have air, and it was in full force! They had it on blast...no complaints from Steve cool-wise!

I am still in the process of getting my paint choices down, I want to paint the living and dining rooms, a portion of the morning room, family room and our bedroom. Once Tre decides on the color he wants for his room we will tackle his. I can't believe I leave Korea in 17 days, and will be a homeowner in 25! Time is flying!

  4. I REALLY want to paint but I do have a fear of having to do it all over again when the nails pop. We talked about it and Steve stated that he would would like to get an initial coat of the paint color of our choosing on the walls. We would have to get the paint color and understand how to mix it so we should be able to get more paint if needed. If I have to re-paint, we wouldn't mind doing so. We don't think that it will be so significant to where we will have a bunch of repairs to do. We both think that we should paint at least the living rm., dining rm., and the morning room walls to give the downstairs some sort of character. We feel that an entire house of while paint is boring! I'm sure we will go back and forth over this over the next few weeks.

    1. Thanks! This is my very first home and I am so excited and grateful to experience the entire process from beginning to end. I have been super emotional lately, so I know I am bound to cry when all of the papers are signed!

    2. I understand your emotions. We started this process officially last year and started the contract process in February with loan approved in July! It will be officially over a year before we sign those papers. I am nearly in tears every day because of the ride; however, I am grateful to God for this opportunity. Cheers for TEARS!

    1. Oh wow, really? You are in for a ride as you are building one as well! The Rome bloggers I came across really helped put me at ease through it all.

  9. Hi Timika, you are courageous building from a distance! You are right time is WINDING DOWN, you will be in your home in a few weeks. YAY!! I like the idea that you plan to turn one of the rooms in the basement into a guest room. What do you plan to do with the other three bedrooms on the second level?

    1. Thanks! I know I have drove Steve crazy over the past few months, but he has been so helpful. Every few days he makes that drive opposite to where he is now to take pictures of the progress. He's been patient while I rant and rave about everything. When its all said and done I have to find a the perfect thank you gift to show just how much I appreciate his efforts!

The other three bedrooms will be utilized as such, we just wanted a 5th one later on down the line. The loft will be a game area for Tre, so that's why we didn't convert that one. The only bedroom that will not have a bed for now is #2, since that will be a baby room when the comes :)

  10. I'm so excited for you! Your house is amazing and I can't blame you for being emotional. When you think about all the time and decision making regarding picking out everything that's has made the house everything it is today, you know just how special it is because the house is an extension of who you guys are! Enjoy it to the fullest! Home sweet home! Can't wait to see pic's after you get all settled!
