Only two more weeks...I'm getting nervous!

This past week has been so stressful with me packing and moving the items I had here in Korea, to going back and forth with underwriting with NVR. The time difference is nerve wracking (13 hours to be exact), I try my best to stay awake to answer any questions they may have. Unfortunately, they don't have questions until it 3 pm EST, and it's 4 am here. So that means a day is lost because they don't recieve an answer from me until they come in the next day. After calling them on Thursday, I truly hope that they have all of the answers they need and I can have final approval on the loan and to make large purchases. My credit card has an awesome cash rewards program, so I tend to make all of my purchases on that card and pay it off at the end of the month. This is a no-go until I receive final approval, so my fingers, toes and eyes are crossed to hear something great this week!

In the meantime, here are some updated pictures of the house. Its gone from where someone spilled blue tape all over the place to being all fixed up and pretty:

Driveway has been paved

Our "kung-fu" colored door

Side shutters. The county required them on this side of the home

Still waiting on the shutters for the other three front windows. Somehow they forgot about them.

I LOVE the floors! That's right babe, take your shoes off at the door :)

The banister has been stained

Pantry to the right

I love how spacious the family room is

The appliances are in!

I love the island

The morning room. I'm probably one of the few that has the door on this end, but we had no choice with the welled exit in the basement.

Yeah, not feeling the side view of the fridge...it will make its way to the man cave

Linen closet

I just love how huge the master bedroom is

His closet

My closet!

Laundry room. Still debating on whether we should have left out the shelves to put up cabinets. Hopefully if we do there won't be much damage to the walls.

Grading has been done in the backyard

That's all for now. Hopefully I will have good news to share with you by the end of the week!

  1. Hi Timika! Your Rome looks beautiful! I love your color combination for the floors and kitchen! I have to admit, the refrigerator looks awesome in the kitchen with the black sides. The color coordinates perfectly with the other stainless steel/black appliances. The black continues to flow from the front of the fridge, to the side of the fridge to the stove and to the microwave which contrasts so beautifully with the other colors on the countertop, hardwood and cabinets. It's purretty! I also loved watching the progress of your home. We have our morning room door on the same side because our floor plan was reversed which is going to take some getting used too. Fingers crossed for good news!

    1. Thanks Nadase! The more I stare at the kitchen pictures the more I am comfortable with the refrigerator. It may just stay for the time being. I guess there are pros and cons to these blogs. They allow you to track the progress of other homeowners, but it also gives you a chance to second guess the choices you made for your home. The reason why we did not go for the Belford which we loved was because of the space, but we loved the kitchen and the possibility of a double oven. The Rome didn't have that option--until I saw Home Sweet Rome's blog about theirs. If I would have known ahead of time, this would have been a custom request. We are too far into the game to do anything about it now, but I can't help but to think "what if". Sigh...

  2. Looks like we both close on our Romes on the same day! How exciting! I'm jealous your house is clean already. Mine still has the floor coverings on... I can't wait for them to remove it! Your home looks beautiful and the Rome is a lovely choice! ;)

    1. Hello my closing twin! The 27th will be here before you know it. I still have so many decisions to make for furniture! At first I didn't think I would like the floors (they were dirty), but once they were all shiny I fell in love! I love that we settled on the Rome!

  3. Just don't drive with your eyes crossed! :D I love that, I say it all the time too (crossing fingers/toes/arms/legs/eyeballs).

This is the same elevation we're getting so I'm excited to see another one go up. Everything looks beautiful!

    1. LOL thanks Amanda for making me laugh! I was a little sad knowing there were custom features I could have requested, but you broke the spell!

I love elevation C; will you have a porch as well?

  4. Congrats on your new home...it looks beautiful. That's the same dining room and china that I wanted to get. I was able to see it in person in Mississippi and it is gorgeous. I just wished they had a rooms to go up this way. I can't wait to see pictures of it in your new home! Safe travels from Korea!

    1. Thanks! The closest RTG is in North Carolina, they are willing to deliver it to Maryland. I inquired about packaging and they said that everything is delivered in its orginal box and assembled at the residence.

  5. Looks amazing! We have just started the "re-approval" process with NVR too and it's quite annoying. I can't imagine doing it with your time difference. Good luck!

    1. Isn't it a long process? I think I gave them the last piece of info they needed on Thursday, so I am hoping to hear something positive soon. I'm ready to shop!

  6. We weren't able to make any large purchases until two days after we closed! I thought it was crazy! The lady at the title agency specifically told us that we weren't allowed to and even made us sign something stating that we hadn't entered into any other debts that have not yet shown up on our credit reports.

Everything looks really great! I have never heard of shutters being on the side of the house! Do you have them on the back as well?

    1. No just on that one side. When Ryan Homes was waiting for approval to build, the county came back stating that since there is an easement on the side of the house, its considered a high visability area so shutters needed to be added. I would have loved to have them on all sides!

Wow, two days after you closed? I sure hope we don't have to wait that long! Question--when did you all get final approval on your loan? All of this waiting is killing me!

    2. I don't know exactly when our final approval went through. They didn't give us our final closing cost amount until 2.5 hours before we closed! Talk about stressful! I'm not actually on the mortgage, just the title. I didn't have a job when we started this process so I wasn't able to be on the mortgage. Once I got a job, I didn't bother having myself added. I didn't want to cause a hiccup in the process! I was also able to make our large purchases on credit cards, that are only in my name, ahead of time.
